Internship Period: 6 February – 16 May 2017
Hobbies: International Relations, Culture & Languages, Fitness, Fashion
Motto: “We travel, some of us forever, to seek other states, other lives, other souls.”
Why did you choose to do an internship at GTCC?
With my internship at GTCC, I wish to go beyond the impressions that I have gained so far from Thailand and its cultural identity during my stay in 2013. In addition to my interest in the promotion of an international exchange, my previous educational and work-related experiences in countries such as the Netherlands, Australia and South Korea have inspired me to choose an organization that operates as an antenna between two countries in a globalized world. Not everyone would prefer this interconnectivity including free trade, yet I do believe that it entails more benefits than disadvantages and that the world prospers through synergies and valuable relationships, as they do exist between Thailand and Germany.
What do you want to do and see during your time here?
Although this is not my first time in Thailand, I am excited to keep exploring its cultural diversity and richness, which have already amazed me in the first place. Especially the contact with locals should be at this time central to my stay and help me to gain additional insights about the country’s cultural dimensions. Furthermore, I would like to go beyond my knowledge that I have gained at University and extend my skills in the field of corporate communications within a global business environment. Trips to the Northern part of Thailand as well as the Southern Islands are of course part of my stay and should ensure that also the weekends are filled with great memories.
What do you plan to do after your internship?
Since I am still a Bachelor student, I would like to finish my thesis at my home university in the Netherlands and gain more knowledge about global partnerships on an economic, political and social level. This is why I plan to start a master study program in the field of International Relations and Diplomacy. In the meanwhile, I am looking forward to new challenges and a great time with the GTCC team.
What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Over the last years, I had the pleasure to live in more than one place: Australia, where I have lived for 12 Months, Seoul in South Korea, and Den Haag in the Netherlands. These experiences have taught me to adjust to different environments and cultures more quickly. Study-related research projects with companies, such as Deutsche Telekom have further improved my problem solving ability and simplified the process of transforming problems into opportunities. Despite my weakness of being a little bit impatient, I am looking forward to expand my international experience with GTCC.
